Jesse’s goal is to have his M-679 all ready for the 2010 Roundup along with his Fleetvan. I’m a little late in getting these posted but you can see the progress that has been made since my last update. Here they are preparing the roof for paint.
The roof and front end are epoxy sealed and ready for paint.
At this point Jesse said that a little more work was needed as when he replaced the hinge pins futher alignment was needed. This truck sure has come a long way!
Look at this and then page back to what this front end started out like. This is an in believeable job!
Here’s a quote on these awesome fenders that Jesse hand made. He makes it sound so simple!
“These are 20 gauge steel, strap steel sheet over a mounted old hard rubber 10.00x20 wheel, begin with 1/2" overhang, then start swinging a hard rubber sledge hammer against the overhang edge all around, then move out another 1/2 inch, and add another 1/2 inch at a time, as the outer edge starts to curl to 90 degrees lay it on plywood and work to flatten out the outer edge. I then used a small press to make the inner shape of the not round front inner fenderwell, then bolted it up and used a hammer and dolly. I am making rear wide fenders to match the fronts, they will be easier, because it is a round inner shape, but it is steel. It is more work to do one fender than It seems.”
Here’s another view of the fenders. I believe that Jesse is going to make a custom set for the rear also.
Here's a look at the dash that will go into Jesse's M-679. It covers all aspects of engine monitoring and even has a reservoir for his dual master cylinder brake system. I love that 160 mph speedometer!
Another look at the dash installed.
