Well, we had a couple of surprises before the bed actually separated from the frame.  It turned out that the bed wasn't built as an unit, but stick built and added to the chassis one piece at a time.  As you'll see in later pictures, the foundation of the bed is made out of two pieces of 4" I-beam that run parallel to the frame.  It turned out that the original builder of the truck not only installed bed mounts to the frame, but he also welded the inside of each I-beam to the frame.  This made removal a bit more difficult.  Nothing that a gas axe couldn't take care of.  Some of the original frame had to be cut away with the bed and torched off later.
