I had the pleasure of meeting Roger & Sharon again at the 17th annual Spring Willys Reunion and saw Roger's truck. It's a real solid unit and Roger said it had a 300 Chevy 6 in it. The interior doghouse was raised to accommodate the engine swap, but whoever did it did a real nice job. The bed is diamond plate and about as solid as you can get! The previous owner took a piece of I-beam that the bed is mounted to and cut the web to the profile of the frame and then welded the flange back on. As a result the bed has a low loading height which is a real advantage when using this truck. The truck also has a set of overload springs on it for increased payload. These are the type that Willys offered that mount outboard of the stock rear springs. The result is a softer ride when unloaded. Roger mentioned that there were a few other things he wanted to do to his truck but you'll have to contact him on those details. It is an early cooling tunnel unit.
