One of my Switzerland buddies, Richard Jud came through “Big Time” for me last week. He was attending a fire fighting old-timer parade in Interlaken / Switzerland on June 20, 2012. This FC fire fighting vehicle was in the parade. This unit was in use for the volunteer fire dept. of the city of Pfäffikon in Switzerland. It's a first respond unit. Many thanks for the awesome picture Richard, always appreciated!
This former Swiss mail carrier was converted into a camper and still resides in Switzerland This one is on my bucket list for sure!
It was converted over at least 33 years ago and is in remarkable condition! Check out the scenery through the windows. Reminds me of Ouray.
As you can see this baby is ready for travel!
This FC Firetruck was used by the city of Glattbrugg in their Volunteer Fire Department. It was used to carry all the necessary materials for closing down streets in case of an emergency. It was in service from the 1960's through the 1980's in the greater Zurich areas. Thanks to Richard Jud for sending me the picture. This picture is of a FC Jeep first respond unit with no tank nor pump, but with hoses,
nozzles, ladder on the roof, fire extinguishers, and many other tools. Usually, these rigs responded to a fire with a pump on a trailer.
I think I need to make a trip to Switzerland in the future! Boy did they have a thing for converting FC's into Fire Trucks. One of my European buddies found this on a Fire Truck website and thought it would be of interest to the group. If you would like to see this truck and many more antique as well as modern Fire apparatus, check out the link below.

Enzio Schreuder, my European FC Connection, found this FC Firetruck on a website and sent me the link. I talked with a gentleman named Richard from Buenos Aires, Argentina who responded to my inquiry on the truck. He told me that the FC Jeep Firetrucks were widely put in service in Switzerland in the 1960's and were in service until the late 1980's and even early 1990's. Nowadays, some of them can still be seen at parades or other events. They were used as the so called first respond unit and often they were even the first and for a long time the only rig of a Fire Department. This picture is of a FC Jeep with a 750 kg dry chemical tank and 2 x 30 m hoses. Below is a link to another FC Firetruck on Richard's Website. Here's another FC-150 Postcar that has found its way to
France. I tried to convince Jeff that the weather in France would be detrimental to the FC and he should just sell it to me but he didn't go for it. I guess the next best thing is that he is looking out for another one for me.
Jeff plans on restoring this rare gem and promises to keep us informed on his progress. Here's some of the particulars on this vehicles in a quote from Jeff.
Really cool!
"Here are some pictures I have from the friend who sold it to me. It's a 1963 model with an F4 and a T98 gear box. It's built like a bus with a square tube frame welded to main frame. The lower panels are made of aluminum the rest of steel. The cab had the deluxe option and all is still there. The VIN shows it was delivered as a pick up."
FC-150 Postcar was a former Mail carrier truck in Switzerland.
Looks like a FC-170 with a cool glass window utility body mounted on it. This is also located in Switzerland.
