Here's a little background to go with the picture. My name is Kurt Roberts and the truck was acquired and built by my father (Jerry) back in the mid 1970's. His shop is in Chelsea, Michigan. It started life as a 1961 FC170 DRW flatbed. The running gear was replaced with a 440ci twin-turbo setup with auto trans and huge military axles. It made for a tight fit sitting beside the big block. The custom "doghouse" had a plexiglass top so the engine was visible. Dad used the truck on the professional truck pulling circuit until about 1983. We used to travel the mid-West with my uncle Jim who owned an Orange 1978 Dodge Power Ram "Twister" with supercharged 426 Hemi. We purchased a school bus, scalped the back half to park the Jeep and trailered the Dodge behind. This picture was taken at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1979 or 1980.
